Palmetto Bluff: The perfect day requires the perfect setting!

While visiting our friends Larry and Linda at Hilton Head, we took a day trip to the beautiful Palmetto Bluff just 25 minutes away. This is a perfect destination venue for your wedding set against the backdrop of the magnificent South Carolina Low Country. Tranquil scenic waterways wind through moss laden oak trees as you arrive at this special resort.

You could not wish for a more romantic setting for your weding day than the Waterside Chapel on the banks of the May River. A stately arched window at the front of the chapel, with an expansive view of the May River sets the stage for a breath taking ceremony.

Just steps away from the chapel is the May River Lawn, where you can receive your guests in a beautiful outdoor setting under the immense branches of ancient oak trees. Your guests may sip a glass of champagne and watch the tides of the river at sunset while the wedding party finishes their pictures across the way at the site of the Palmetto Bluff's historic ruins.

On to the celebration at the River House ballroom which can accomodate up to 120 guests. The large veranda that srrounds the ballroom on three sides can accomodate an additional 50 guests.

A beautiful May Day wedding at historic Bleak House! After months of planning it was so exciting to see everything come together. The ceremony was held in the garden with the wedding party entering the garden through the arbor. Then up to the house for a delicious dinner of Southern cuisine catered by Simply Southern. The house was adorned with hydrangeas and roses in shades of lavender, purple, and plum exquisitly arranged by Samuel Franklin. Lively music provided by Dr. Grubb of Special Notes keep the crowd rockin'. The perfect end to a great celebration, a sparkler send off! A big thanks to all vendors including All Occasions Party Rentals, Andy Armstrong Photography, and White Lace and Promises for helping make this day so special for Ashley and Matt.

First Fruits Catering Holds Open House at Smithview Pavilion

The rainy weather did not dampen the spirits of the brides- and grooms-to-be at the First Fruits Catering open house at the Smithview Pavilion in Maryville yesterday.

Chef Tony presented culinary delights truly fit for kings and queens! My favorite wedding cake was the lemon. It was soooo moist and flavorful. I loved the jar punch which Martha Stewart made famous.

What a great way to spend a rainy Sunday afternoon!

January 10, 2010 Premier Bridal Show

It was a fantastic show!!! We talked to many brides in all stages of the planning process. It's going to be a great wedding season! Coordinating with vendors is part of what we do and I would like to give credit to Samuel Franklin Floral, Margaret Murray-Evans of MME Decorating, Affordable Fabrics, Personally Yours, All Occasions Party Rentals and Pottery Barn for helping us execute our design plan for our booth.

For our booth design we chose the theme "Wild About Each Other". A linen, zebra print fabric covered the table. Chair ties were of hot pink. To tie this color scheme together a tall floral arrangement of hot pink and apricot roses with spiking wild ginger and birds of paradise adorned the center of the table. Flowers of the same kind flowed from the bases of rosemary topiaries. Menu cards were a black floral print on cream, trimmed in hot pink.

There was much interest in the favor boxes which were ordered from Beaucoup. We used plain black boxes and tied them with coordinating ribbon of hot pink, black and zebra print. Welcome basket, created by Soirée Events, was a reproduction vintage suitcase filled with champagne, cheese straws, cookies, lotions, playing cards and magazines.

We all came away from the show very excited about the upcoming season and the many new trends for 2010. I will be sharing some of these trends on the blog. So, stay tuned!

Fantasy of Trees 2009

It was great fun working with Ashley and Team putting all of this together. Be sure and see the entire beautiful display of Christmas Trees, ginger bread houses, etc. Fun for kids of all ages. November 25-29 at the Knoxville Convention Center.

Wedding Trends For 2010

As promised, I will share with you some of the very exciting trends for 2010 we heard about at the Wedding MBA. Brides will continue to look to the internet for information and resources to help with their planning. December is still the top month to become engaged but the length of the engagement is expanding. May-October will remain the most popular months for weddings. Weddings are becoming smaller and more intimate with the average guest size of 150. The bride’s back yard is increasing in popularity as a reception site and receptions are becoming more casual. More weddings will be held on Friday nights and Sundays as many venues will discount their fees on these days. Cup cakes will be replaced by cup pies. Brides are moving away from neutral colors in favor of the brights such as turquoise and red and tangerine and cobalt. The sea greens and blues will remain popular especially for beach weddings. Brides want the traditional wedding but with a twist. Retro is still in as are green weddings. Perhaps best of all, grooms are becoming much more involved in the planning process! Couples mainly want a celebration that reflects their personalities and is fun. They want to be able to enjoy their special day with family and friends.

VIVA LAS VEGAS II

The Conference has been great! We heard from Wedding Giants, The Knot and Martha Stewart Weddings yesterday. I have so many new and interesting ideas to share.

My favorite Hotel in Vegas is The Venetian with Bellaggio coming in a close second. I guess I am an Italian at heart!

The Conference wraps up today and I will be back in Casa Tipton late tonight. More to come!
